TRAILER Analysis/ INITIAL INSPIRATION
THE FLY TRAILER ANALYSIS
After viewing the trailer of 'The Fly' ideas of a case of transformation from one form to another came to mind. One thing we liked from this trailer was the series of clips used to both tell the story behind the transformation and glimpses of the stages of the change, for example the shot showing the 'obscure hairs' on the characters back. The fact that the audience doesn't see the end result of the transformation into the fly allows them to be kept in the dark and wanting to see more. This is something we'd like to capture in our trailer as it creates tension and people are often lead into seeking the unknown, however we would like to use faster and choppier shots in out trailer to create momentary glimpses of the said creature. Despite being an older horror, it still carries a 7.5 star rating on IMDB, which highlights its success both when released and now. The rating being high gives us confidence that themes of transformation are looked on highly by audiences.
LIFE trailer analysis
in this trailer for LIFE, they explore the possibility of Alien life of which they have retrieved from a prob from Mars. This is when the crew made up of 6 different men and women attempt to perform tests and analysation of the Alien. This is when things begin to go wrong. The trailer begins with a few worried faces which already show that something is wrong. These shots show that something is wrong but you are only seeing the reactions and are left to infer what is wrong rather than being shown. It then transitions to a shot where a module from the ISS (International Space Station) is hurtling amongst debris into another part of the space station. The trailer then proceeds to show the crew in distress but doesn't reveal too much of what the rest of the action in the film. This creates a sense of excitement which draws you in and makes you want to find out how it ends.
This trailer conveyed many different ideas of something that is unknown in how it acts, feels, thinks and in it's appearance. This made for an illusive and disturbing alien. We could incorporate to our trailer as it would allow our main antagonist to become scary as fear is created through the unknown. LIFE received an 6.7/10 on IMDb which meant that these techniques were seen as successful.

THE SUFFERING TRAILER ANALYSIS
The Suffering movie follows a man who fights for his sanity when he finds himself trapped on a rural farm inhabited by sinister beings overseen by a mysterious caretaker. We decided to look at this trailer as we looked at the phycological genre. The trailer starts out setting the location and from the beginning we get a sense that something sinister is taking place. The sound of the lighter follows through in a couple of scenes as well as dramatic and sudden sound effects to keep the audience on edge. The symbolism in this trailer gave us many ideas, especially on how to represent an entity without giving too much away. The use of dialogue was also important in this trailer to convey the plot of the film.
When looking at the reviews for this film, its surprising how underrated it is and that few people had heard of it. The Suffering takes place in an old estate, where the main character Henry has been hired to appraise the property. In the opening scenes you can't shake the feeling something is off. The dialogue, music, and sound effects come together in just the right ways to produce a unique creepy atmosphere to this film. We wanted to replicate the same mood in our trailer by effectively using dialogue and sound.
