The sequence in a trailer does not necessarily have to follow chronologically, as typical trailer will reveal shots from different parts of the film. However, these parts can't give too much away otherwise it won't leave questions that our audience wants answering when they go see the film. This also incorporates Barthes enigma code as the trailer portrays a sense of mystery to draw our audience in. This is the primary role of any trailer- to pose questions that intrigue the audience and will therefore go watch the film to find answers. We made sure to add the manifestation in at least two of the shots as they are a key figure that arguably poses the most questions such as why they are in the trailer, what is their role etc.
In our storyboard, we needed to consider the pace of shots which follow that of a conventional horror trailer. The shots needed to be short and build tension throughout the trailer until the final shot. The final shot shows Nathan, our antagonist, which then pans out to show the victims propped up on chairs either side of him. This shot was of particular importance as a defining moment in the trailer and we plan to use it for our poster.
