Swede
We decided to recreate 'Friend Request' for our Swede.

In order to understand how a trailer is shot, we were required to make a swede. This meant recreating a trailer so we took 'Friend Request', allocated roles and started filming. We chose particular scenes in the trailer that were of significance to the plot of the film and featured fast paced, action shots between characters.
This is the first confrontation in the trailer which builds suspense and gives the impression that something bad is happening. To recreate it, we needed to film various shots at different angles and merge them together. The whole canteen scene is fast paced as the clips are short and therefore closely follow one another.

There are similar clips throughout the trailer where the main protagonist is with her laptop and her facial expression is the focus. For these shots, we needed a dark background and close up shots of our protagonist looking at her laptop. This shot is important because her emotions contrast with the following scenes.

While we recreated the trailer, we found how many different shots a trailer has and how varied they are. At least three different shots were used in one scene. It also gave insight into the camera movements such as panning and tracking and the build up of pace from the beginning of the trailer to the end. Choosing the locations was also important and from the trailer there were many different ones even though some were very shortly glimpsed.
We also need to consider how we use sound and dialogue, whether its non-diegetic (e.g. part of a voiceover) or diegetic (people seen talking in scenes.) Although we didn't need to recreate the sound, it is clear that having a voice over is iconic in a trailer, giving it a professional appeal. The voice over for Friend Request is mainly told by the protagonist and this gives insight onto the plot and genre of the film.
