Sounds, shots and locations
The average length of a trailer is about 114 seconds (1 minute 54). Horror trailers are typically below this at about 103 seconds and we aim to produce a trailer around 90 seconds long (1 minute 30). However, to decide the number of locations, shots, length of shots, dialogue and titles to put in our trailer, we need to look at existing trailers.

From the trailers we've looked out, we found that around 70% of our trailer should contain dialogue, most of which is non-diegetic. Although in most of the trailers the number of shots with dialogue doesn't look substantial, they we're often the longer shots so justifies the high percentage. The average number of titles was between 5-7 and we should aim to use at least 10 locations, each of which will need a different sequence or scenario. In the trailers we analysed we found that the ones with more locations were closer to our target length of 1 minute 30 seconds. Shots were 2 seconds long on average, but there is varied pace and number of shots within the trailer.
